The student will work in the engineering department of this engineering firm, working on a civil engineering project.

The project will consist of the following:

• site clearance
• earthworks – cuts and fills
• road construction – starting from subgrade to laying of asphalt
• roundabout construction on roads
• stone walls
• drain construction
• water reservoir construction
• excavation of trenches for laying of services such as electricity, telecoms, sewage, water etc

Internship in Mechanical Engineering Company Mauritius

An engineering company which specialises in project realisation mostly in the sugar industry.

They have various fields of activities:
1. Project management
2. Process design
3. Project engineering
4. Construction management
5. Mechanical erection
6. Quality management

The projects are mainly expansion of cane sugar factories. They are currently working on a project designing the cane juice processing part of a new Bio-Ethanol plant.

One of the tasks is to produce isometric piping drawings for this part of the plant. They plan to model the plant and the piping using Autodesk Plant Design Suite in order to generate the necessary isometric piping drawings. The software has only recently been acquired by the company and needs to be mastered and customized for implementation.

The main activity during the training would be to assist one of the lead engineers in setting up the model and modelling the piping with the new software. Later assist in configuring the software to produce drawings to the required standard. Finally, participate in the production, checking and issuing the set of isometric drawings for the project.

The project also involves several other aspects the student will be exposed to and to which the student will be able to assist.

During the training period, the student will work under the direct supervision of one of the Project Engineers.
